Amman Workshop 2012

Workshop on National Transfer Accounts: An Introduction, Amman, Jordan, July 23-26, 2012

The Population Division of the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is collaborating with the Statistics Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in the area of transfer accounts and population ageing. The Population Division is implementing activities under the project "Ageing and Population" of the PGA trust fund, in complement to the Development Account (DA) project (ROA 167) on "Strengthening capacity of national policy analysts in the social and economic sectors of developing countries in the production and use of National Transfer Accounts" (NTA).

In coordination with ESCWA, two countries in Western Asia, Palestine and Jordan, have been identified to participate in capacity development activities in this area. Professionals from each of the beneficiary countries will receive introductory training in NTA. The introductory training workshop for ESCWA countries, co-organized by DESA/Population Division and ESCWA, and hosted by the Department of Statistics of Jordan, will take place in Amman, Jordan, from 23 to 26 July 2012.
