Workshop on Population Development and Policy: The Economic Payoffs of Population Change

May 29 - June 28, 2007

Co-coordinators : Andy Mason and Karen O. Mason

Resource Persons: David Canning and Sang-Hyop Lee

The 2007 workshop and a follow-on workshop to be offered in 2008 are designed to facilite participants' research on the demographic dividends. This year's workshop reviews existing knowledge about demographic dividends, including what is known about the contribution of gender roles as a channel of influence from population change to economic growth; reviews research methodology for studying demographic dividend; and helps participants develop and apply research protocol for studying questions about the demographic dividends and the links between population and economic change more broadly.

The 2007 and 2008 workshops are supported by a generous grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
